Cats drink much less water than dogs, but why? The cats are hunting animals, throughout their lives they have fed on small animals that, when ingested, provided them, apart from the nutritional contribution, the water they needed.
This vestige of their wild times is still present in their behavior, for this, it still costs them to drink water. It is for this reason that we have to be attentive to the fact that our pets do not become dehydrated, as it can cause health problems, such as urinary problems.
Fresh water: The cat is very refined when choosing the product you want to consume. If the water is not fresh you can refuse it, so try to have fresh water every day.
Container: As stated above, taste and smell are very important to him. For this, it is recommended to use glass or aluminum containers and avoid plastic ones.
Combining dry and wet food: A very good solution is to combine dry food (feed) with humid (cans), so the cat will drink water naturally while eating.
Big bowls: Cats prefer to consume water in large bowls. If you can provide a large bowl (like a dog's) it may consume more water.
Automatic sources: Have you ever seen a cat play with the water jet coming out of the tap? The cat is curious by nature, loves to discover and play. Get an automatic source so you can have fun drinking water.
