This is a controversial issue because it has as many detractors as defenders.
But it will not be for the animals, this is clearly demonstrated, since the dogs are accustomed to live in a herd, sleeping in the same place as their companions, whether humans or animals. It is an innate thing that is pleasant or even necessary, although they get used to not doing it.
So, what are the inconveniences of sleeping with our animals? In what way does it hurt us?
The experts point out these three drawbacks:
MAY BE A RISK TO THE PERSON'S HEALTH
This is a reality for those who suffer from allergies or asthma, as the animals, although healthy, have capacity for many microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi or mites. If our dog goes out for a walk, it is more likely that his or her paws have stepped on dirt or mud floors and shelter their fur. But what most alarms many are the so-called zoonosi diseases (those that can be transmitted from animals to humans). Neither let us forget the possibility of being bitten or infected by a wound.
All this sounds very catastrophic but if your pet carries all the vaccines and takes preventive measures, your health does not have to be in danger. The only people who are not recommended to sleep with their pet are those with allergies and those with a weak immune system, such as the elderly, young children or people with HIV or cancer.
AFFECTS THE QUALITY OF SLEEP
Some say that sleeping with animals provides a more pleasant sleep, so you feel more secure and affectionate. Despite this, experts agree that sleeping with an animal in bed can negatively affect the quality of rest. Animals have sleep cycles different from those of humans, and this is why it is very likely that they will rise continuously and change a lot of posture. They may also wake you up at a time when they no longer want to sleep, instead of at the time you had planned to wake up.
If we study the situation in detail, the quality of rest does not diminish alarmingly. In addition, it is also proven that tying ties with our pet reduces stress and anxiety. In this way, the quality of sleep is affected or not depends also on the person.
THE ANIMAL CAN DEVELOP PROBLEMS OF CONDUCT
It is possible that an animal when sleeping in bed with your human experience an increase in aggressiveness and stress that can lead to problems of depression and anxiety. In addition, one of our biggest concerns can be realized: when we do not want our animal to get into bed, do not pay attention to us. To avoid problems of this kind, we have to learn to set limits and teach them when you can get into bed and when not.
In short, is it good to sleep with our pets? It depends on you and the preventive measures you take.
